Prices
vary according to the size and type of lute (how many courses,
etc.), the decorative details and materials used. For this
reason, specific prices are no longer listed in the catalogue, but as a
rough guide six-course lutes start at £3000, ten- and
eleven-course lutes start at £3750, and archlutes and
theorboes start at £5000.
All prices include a made-to-measure Kingham case with velvet lining
- please bear in mind that many luthiers do not include cases
in the quoted price and cases cost from £300 to
£600 depending on the type of lute.
Terms
of business
Price
is agreed at the time of the order and does not change thereafter.
A deposit
of 25%
secures a place on my waiting list, with the remainder being paid on or
(for customers outside the UK) before delivery.
A student
discount of 15% is available to full-time lute
students at a recognized university or conservatory.
Methods of
payment
UK
customers:
cash, cheque, or direct credit transfer.
Customers outside UK:
cash or direct credit transfer ("wire transfer"). Please allow for bank
charges when making transfers - UK banks charge me for each
transaction even though the customer has paid for the transfer at their
end (yes, I know, it's theft, but that's what they do).
Customers
outside the EU will need to consider customs charges.
Delivery
Most
customers prefer to collect instruments personally, as this is
the best and safest method. If an instrument has to be sent
by courier, all related expenses (packaging, carriage,
insurance, customs/import
taxes, etc.) must be paid by the customer.
